Maia Jackson

she/her/hers

Maia Jackson (she/her/hers) is a student coordinator for SIBS—Support for Incoming Black Students—at MESA. She is a junior from Detroit, Michigan and a graduate of Detroit Public Schools. Maia is committed to youth development, education, and involvement with the campus community. She is also passionate about research and was involved in the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program and the Detroit Community Engaged Research Program.

Tyae Grant

Tyae Grant (she/her/hers) is a student coordinator for SIBS—Support for Incoming Black Students—at MESA. She is sophomore from Chicago IL and on the 4+1 master's track, majoring in sociology with a sub-major in social work. Afterwards, she plans to attend law school and work within child and family law. She has come to realize that when she aligns her work with her passions, the sense of fulfillment is so much greater. She believes in equity and healing the cracks wherever they may lie to give our youth a strong foundation to fulfill their dreams.

Kamaldeen Akorede

he/him/his

Kamaldeen Akorede (he/him/his) is a participant liaison for SIBS—Support for Incoming Black Students—at the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs. He is a senior pursuing the biology, health, and society major on a pre-dental track. His current favorite hobbies are working out, drawing and watching shows and movies whenever there’s time. His goals for this position are to foster the formation of new partnerships between mentors and mentees, and to maintain these relationships by engaging in monthly check-ins and responding to pairs.

Tamariah Davis

she/her/hers

Tamariah Davis (she/her/hers) is the social media/marketing co-chair for SIBS—Support for Incoming Black Students—at MESA. She is a junior from Ypsilanti, MI studying information analysis and web design (UX) at the School of Information. In her free time, she likes skating and playing tennis with friends and family. Tamariah is passionate about fair access to education for all. She is honored to take on this role as social media/marketing chair because she believes in using social media as a way to build community online.

Simone Conley

she/her/hers

Simone Conley (she/her/hers) is a sophomore from Eastpointe, MI majoring in psychology with minors in Afro-American & African studies and user experience design. Simone enjoys powerlifting and spending time with her siblings. She is thrilled to serve as the social media/marketing co-chair. Her main goal is to persist in promoting personality and creativity whilst strengthening bonds in the community.

Nia Rae' Echols

she/her/hers

Nia Rae’ Echols (she/her/hers) is a communications co-chair for SIBS—Support for Incoming Black Students—at MESA. She is a senior from Detroit, Michigan that is majoring in Spanish and minoring in entrepreneurship. Along with being on the SIBS lead team, she is also the co-captain for the Dynamic Dolls Dance Team and a creative mentor in the Lloyd Scholars for the Writing and Arts Program.

Nahdia Levy

she/her/hers

Nahdia Levy (she/her/hers) is the finance chair for SIBS—Support for Incoming Black Students—at MESA. She is a sophomore from Chicago, Illinois who has yet to declare a major, but is pursuing a degree on the pre-law track. After graduation, she plans to attend law school to eventually work in corporate law to help diversify the people that have an impact on corporations of all sizes. As a first-gen student, she is passionate about mentorship, community development in low-income areas, and the matriculation of Black students from these areas.

Jordan Williams

she/her/hers

Jordan Williams (she/her/hers) is a communications co-chair for SIBS—Support for Incoming Black Students—at MESA. She is a sophomore from Westchester, New York. She is double majoring in political science and Afro-American and African studies. She wants to major in both subjects to gain a deeper understanding of how America's political system impacts the Black community. Jordan plans to use this knowledge to ensure the political and social protection of Black Americans in our country.
