Growing Oceanic and Asian American Leaders (GOAAL) is a MESA Welcome Program that focuses on community-building and leadership development. In collaboration with the Oceanic Student Association (OSA) and United Asian American Organizations (UAAO), it is offered to all incoming first-year and transfer students through the lenses of the Asian American and Pacific Islander experiences. Participants will explore and critically think about identity, cross-group coalition building, and leadership. Through these introductory experiences, MESA hopes to demonstrate how orientations, history and current events, and social structures influence identities and leadership in the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
