Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer appointed MESA director Nadia Bazzy to the Michigan Board of Marriage and Family Therapy. There, she'll represent licensed marriage and family therapists for a term expiring June 30, 2026, subject to the advice and consent of the Michigan Senate.

According to a press release from the governor's office, "The Michigan Board of Marriage and Family Therapy was created to license and regulate the practice of marriage and family therapy in Michigan, which is the provision of guidance, testing, discussions, therapy, instruction, or advice that is intended to avoid, eliminate, relieve, manage, or resolve marital or family conflict or discord, to create, improve, or restore marital or family harmony, or to prepare couples for marriage."

Bazzy is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) and has been in private practice since 2001. She has lectured and consulted nationally, across sectors, for over 20 years on various topics including conflict, peacebuilding, reconciliation, relationships and trauma healing.
