Cultivating Asian American Leaders at Michigan (CAALM) is a leadership development program offered to all incoming first-year and transfer students. It consists of an opportunity to participate in the Agency and Allyhood Building Workshops Series coordinated by the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs (MESA) in partnership with the Ginsburg Center, Spectrum Center, and the Program on Intergroup Relations (IGR). Participants will explore and critically think about identity, cross-group coalition building, and leadership. In addition, CAALM participants will have the opportunity to connect and network directly with the United Asian American Organizations (UAAO) on August 28, 2021 for a community building event where you get to also meet upperclassmen, faculty, and staff, as well as other resources that allow you to network and be supported in the context of the Asian American and Pacific Islander identities and community. Through these introductory experiences,  MESA hopes to demonstrate how orientations, hxstory and current events, and social structures influence leadership in the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.
