Successful Arab Leaders at Michigan (SALAM) is a MESA welcome program, presented in collaboration with the Arab Student Association. This multi-day program is for incoming first and transfer students to build community, learn about campus resources, and connect with one another about the Arab student experience. The program is open to all U-M students interested in understanding and supporting the Arab community.
SALAM is open to all incoming U-M students.

Recent history of SALAM
In 2018, SALAM was created out of need for a support system, guidance, and mentorship from members of the Arab student community. In its pilot year, the program served over 40 first-year students in a two-day event. Participants met with various organizations that make up the Arab community to learn about its history and ways to be involved. Participants also developed a better understanding of the Arab student experience through student panels, group activities, and more.
