Accepting Nominations for 2013 Distinguished Woman in Higher Education Award
The Distinguished Woman in Higher Education Award Committee is giving you a “heads up” to let you know that your President recently received his/her invitation to nominate a candidate for the MI-ACE Women’s Network’s prestigious Distinguished Woman in Higher Education Award for 2013. Only Network member institutions may submit nominations.
Please make an effort to urge your president to respond to this opportunity, which brings recognition not only to the outstanding achievement of a member of your campus community but to the college or university itself. (You can do this with all due modesty as those serving on the Network Board or as an IR are not eligible for the award during their term of service.) The award will be presented at the MI-ACE Women’s Network Annual Conference at the Kellogg Center in East Lansing on Tuesday, June 4, 2013.
Nominations are due February 15, 2013 and may be directed (by mail or email) to: Distinguished Woman Leader Award Committee Chair Lori Cortez, Mid Michigan Community College, 1372 South Clare Ave., Harrison, MI 48625 or lcortez@midmich.edu.
Guidelines can be found on the Network’s website: www.miacenetwork.org.
Note: Although the form on the website is a SAMPLE from previous years, the Guidelines are correct.
ACE's 2013 Regional Women’s Leadership Forums: Nominations Now Open
Women are often underrepresented within the senior ranks of the highly competitive and dynamic higher education sector. While advances are being made, breaking through unique barriers and emerging as successful executive leaders remains a challenge.
"Supportive networks and programs like ACE's Regional Women's Leadership Forums are about reaching women where they are and inspiring them to move to whatever level they are interested in aspiring to." Connie Gores, Vice President for Student Life Development at Winona State University
If you know a mid-level woman administrator with high potential for advancement in higher education, nominate her to participate in one of ACE's 2013 Regional Women’s Forums.
